Acclaimed pianist Chris McCarthy and soulful vocalist Vanisha Gould unite for an inspired duo blending inventive jazz mastery with timeless storytelling.

Vanisha Gould is a creative vocalist, composer, and bandleader from Simi Valley, California. Since moving to New York in 2015, she has become a vibrant voice in the city’s jazz scene. A stylist with soul influenced by Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell, Sarah Vaughan, and Ella Fitzgerald, she is described as a singular talent with an elegant, impactful, and memorable stage presence. Gould’s artistry reflects a deep respect for tradition while boldly exploring her own musical narrative. She has performed internationally in Russia, Sweden, and at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival. She has captivated audiences at NYC staples such as Smalls Jazz Club, Mezzrow, Dizzy’s Club, Minton’s Playhouse, and The Django. In 2024, she was awarded a New Jazz Works Artist Residency at The Jazz Gallery. Vanisha Gould continues to craft music that is personal, powerful, and deeply rooted in jazz tradition.

Known for his “high skill and sensitivity,” (NYTimes) Chris McCarthy is one of the most in demand pianists in New York City. McCarthy has developed a reputation as “one of the most imaginative and impressive voices on the New York jazz scene” (Hot House Jazz Magazine). Early accolades included the 2012Gerald Wilson Award for big band composition at the Monterey Jazz Festival. After playing with Jerry Bergonzi and Jason Palmer’s working bands in Boston for several years, he moved to New York in 2016 and has been collaborating with artists from around the world in NYC ever since. He released his debut for Ropeadope Records Still Time To Quit in 2020. The album received widespread critical praise, including the #3 slot in Paul Rauch’s “Best Local Jazz Albums of2020” for Seattle Times.
